An advanced gentle bodywork technique that has a profound healing effect on the whole body.
Developed in France in the 1930's by Dr. Emil Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a safe, gentle and effective form of bodywork which has a cleansing and detoxifying effect on the body's tissues. It utilizes light, rhythmical movements to stimulate the lymphatic system and has a powerful healing effect on the whole body.
The therapeutic benefits of MLD evidenced by more than 40 years of research are well documented. It is widely prescribed by physicians in Europe. Some of MLD's many benefits are:
removing waste products, toxic substances and excess water form the tissues, thereby improving the health of our connective tissue and our cells
reducing swelling and inflammation
alleviating pain by reducing the pain signals sent to the brain
relaxing and calming the nervous system and reducing stress
lowering blood pressure
supporting and enhancing the functioning of the immune system
speeding up the healing process after surgery or injury
helping to minimize scar formation
cleansing and detoxifying the skin, reducing puffiness and improving skin tone
Manual Lymph Drainage is indicated for a variety of conditions as it can have a profound effect on a number of physiological functions of the body. Despite the large number of therapeutic applications for MLD there are some instances when MLD is contraindicated.
Please note that I am not able to provide Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) for the treatment of lymphedema.
"Have a problem with bursitis in my lymphedema arm (due to mastectomy). Konrad did manual lymph drainage on me and took most of the pressure off my arm. Highly recommend it to women who have had breast cancer and anyone wanting a gentle therapeutic massage." E.H.
